Trustee on the Board of Trustees

Looking to become a trustee in Hertfordshire? Are you passionate about your community?

We are looking for professionals to sit on our board, who have an interest in supporting adults through our therapeutic model.  We provide an abstinence based group therapy service to support people who have an addiction or their family and carers onto the road of recovery.  By joining our board of trustees you will help our 24 year old charity continue to provide an excellent, free service, for people with any addiction to find recovery through our group therapy.

Our trained counsellors have long term experience of recovery themselves, supported by a committed and talented admin team.  Annually we support around 600 Hertfordshire residents and their loved ones to find tools to live without substances or behaviours to break the cycle of addiction.

Our board of trustees is diverse and effective, with good relationships with the Executive Team running the organisation of 44 staff and many volunteers.  We are looking for people who would bring their charity knowledge, knowledge of the criminal justice system or mental health services, in particular, although the board is happy to welcome ideas and skills you could bring.

We ask that you commit to attend four to six board meetings (either in person or via Zoom), plus one annual strategy day, per year.  This is an unpaid role, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

“Volunteering at The Living Room has made me revaluate my approach to many things, particularly addiction. It has also given me a timestamp for my week (something to look forward to), continuing stimulation and interaction with others. I believe I make a contribution – in a small way - which in turn gives me satisfaction that my time is well spent.”
