Taking it one step at a time, Penny and her amazing group climbed three of Yorkshires highest peaks and raised an incredible £2,089 for The Living Room.

The challenge, which took place on 27th of July, was no mean feat by all accounts.

Speaking after, Penny said; “The aim was to complete the Three Peaks in 12 hours, which sounded hard enough, but none of us were expecting the pace set by the guides to make this possible!

"You really had to keep up, if you didn't make the second peak by 2.30pm, you had to withdraw as it wouldn't be possible to complete in the time limit".

Some of the group had personally attended The Living Room, and others know people who have used the service.

Penny continued: “We decided to raise money for The Living Room because we are all aware of the amazing work they do and have experience of the effects of addiction in one way or another, through friends, family or personal experience.

"I'm so proud of everyone in our group and I’m amazed by those who kept the pace at the front and led the way! I don't know how they did it, it was so difficult, and they showed amazing strength!

“Some of us found it a lot more challenging than others, and really had to dig deep in order to finish! It was the hardest physical thing I have ever done in my life. I didn't realize I was so scared of heights till I was climbing the side of a mountain!

“It was amazing to share this experience with a wonderful group of people. There were some injuries, some tears, and lots of laughs, but we were all left with a huge sense of achievement and gratitude to be able to participate in this challenge and raise money for such a good cause!”

From all of us at The Living Room, we’d like to say an enormous thank you and well done to Penny and her amazing group!
